Augusta, Maine – The Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services, Maine (the Alliance), the leading statewide association dedicated to advancing quality mental health and substance use treatment, is proud to announce the appointment of Adam Bloom-Paicopolos as its new Executive Director, to join newly promoted Associate Director, Jennifer Christian, effective June 1, 2024.
Adam Bloom-Paicopolos brings a wealth of experience and a profound commitment towards behavioral health policy and advocacy to make a difference in the communities and lives that need it most. Adam’s experience in state and federal healthcare policy, nonprofit board leadership, and background in strategic consulting and partnership development will continue to advance the Alliance’s mission and goals to enhance access to treatment and recovery-oriented systems of care to Mainers across the state.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Bloom-Paicopolos served as an Analyst at ATI Advisory, where he advised and supported states, providers, and other healthcare organizations on navigating federal and state policy and regulatory environments to successfully inform strategic decision making, design actionable policies, and implement meaningful programs. Past experience also includes working on the Public Policy team at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), where he was responsible for a broad portfolio of policy issues and Congressional, policymaker, and stakeholder relations. He is widely recognized for his ability to foster collaboration among stakeholders and for his innovative approach to addressing complex health challenges.
In assuming the role of Executive Director, Bloom-Paicopolos expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with the Alliance’s diverse network of providers, stakeholders, and advocates to address the evolving needs of individuals and communities affected by addiction and mental health disorders. In his new role, Bloom-Paicopolos will oversee all operational aspects of the Alliance, including strategic planning, program development, and advocacy efforts. He will work closely with member organizations, policymakers, and community partners to enhance the network of care for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges across Maine.
“It is an honor to continue the outstanding legacy of mission-driven leadership that Malory Shaughnessy has built at the Alliance,” said Bloom-Paicopolos. “As Maine continues to experience unprecedented demand for community-based behavioral health services, my vision is for all Mainers to have meaningful and equitable access to the care that they deserve.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Adam Bloom-Paicopolos as the new Executive Director of the Alliance,” said David McCluskey, President of the Alliance Board of Directors. “His exemplary leadership, combined with a deep-rooted passion for advancing behavioral healthcare, will undoubtedly propel our organization forward as we continue our important work that supports mental health and addiction services, expands access to care, and ensures that every individual in Maine receives the support they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.”
Bloom-Paicopolos holds a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Maryland, School of Public Policy. He will officially assume the role of Executive Director on June 1, 2024, succeeding Malory Shaughnessy, who served with distinction during her tenure.
